FOR CHRIST
- “But who do you say that I am?”, Jesus asked Peter in Luke 9.  This seems like an easy question given all the disciples had seen and experienced while journeying with Christ.  It is an easy question, until you realize the consequences of how you answer.  When Peter replies, “You are the Messiah of God”, little did he know his world would never be the same. Peter can no longer live for himself since He has recognized Jesus as the Lord of all things. If you recognize Jesus as your Messiah, then you are left with only one option.  Live for Him.  When you recognize Jesus as the unique Son of God, the King of Kings, and the Lord of all things, it becomes clear the command to follow where He leads is not optional. Out of this truth, Prestonwood Young Singles seek to move past merely acknowledging Christ as Messiah, and moving toward a radical journey of living for Him.

Colossians 1:13-20, Philippians 2:5-12, Hebrews 13:8, Galatians 2:25

IN COMMUNITY- In Genesis 2, God makes it apparent that it is not good for humans to be alone. We are each created with a need for communication and a longing for interaction with others. In addition to our created need for community, we also seek it as a means to share Christ with others.  Paul reminds the Church that we are one body, with Christ as the head in 1 Corinthians 12.  The entire letter to the Church of Corinth stresses community, because often it is the only way the world will see Jesus.  How Christians lived with one another and treated each other reflected the power of their movement.  Prestonwood Young Singles believe in the need for and power of Christian community, and so we seek it through building intentional Christian relationships.

Ecclesiastes 4:12, Acts 2:42, 1 Samuel 18:1-5, I John 1:6-7

TO SERVE- In John 13, Jesus sat before each of his disciple’s dirty feet and did the work of a servant by washing them off.  Jesus did this so that they would understand how deeply He loved them and to set an example for them to do likewise.  In this story, Jesus is calling all believers to serve others in order to show love.  The words “God loves you” often fall flat when spoken to nonbelievers in our culture.  However, working together to build a Habitat for Humanity home or participating in some other service project may convey this concept of love perfectly.  We desire to communicate Jesus’ love to our community through service.  Our culture can no longer be reached by mere words, therefore Prestonwood Young Singles believe in living to serve so that others may experience the love of Christ in a tangible way.
